A magazine about emerging trajectories in art, science, and technology

Towering installations visualize scientific data, projectors beam kaleidoscopic animations onto sculptural forms, responsive 3D-printed environments mimic life—as consumer electronics become indistinguishable from science fiction, contemporary artists and designers are prototyping fantastical futures before our very eyes.

HOLO is a biannual window into their world: 200+ pages of personal encounters with leading practitioners, visits to key studios and institutions around the world, analysis from prominent thinkers and niche experts—each issue of HOLO is a thorough record of timely trends and paradigms, mixing long-form journalism with striking photography in premium print.

Shipping and order queries:

Orders are shipped on a weekly basis from our distribution hub in Berlin. Shipping within the EU usually takes 2-5 business days, orders to North America generally take 8-14 business days, and shipping throughout the rest of the world can take anywhere from 2-5 weeks depending on the speed of the postal service in the destination country.
When organizing our fulfillment, we did extensive research and determined that the most cost-effective solution was to ship out of Germany via Deutsche Post Priority Mail, where we pay a flat rate for worldwide mailing. Within the EU we can ship for approximately the same price via FedEx economy—resulting in speedier deliveries.
No, it would be prohibitively expensive to ship worldwide at express speeds. At the moment we only offer express shipping for wholesale or bulk orders.
Only within the EU, where we ship via FedEx Economy. We ship via Deutsche Post Priority for the rest of the world and tracking numbers are not available.
To update your address, email your new mailing address to (and be sure to include a phone number) and we will note your new info in our database.
Yes, to order via cheque, email and provide your complete billing (and shipping) address. Make sure to indicate if you would like a single issue or a subscription. We will email you an invoice and you should then mail a cheque (made out to ‘HOLO’) to our Toronto PO Box— we will ship your order when we receive the cheque.
No, but our sister publication CreativeApplications.Net is always buzzing with activity, please check out our writing there. At the moment there are no plans for a digital version of HOLO, but that may change in the future.
Absolutely, we offer discounts for orders of 5 copies of HOLO or more. Please get in touch with us at for more information about bulk orders.
Not in the traditional sense. We do not sell ‘ads’ but are open to partnerships with arts organizations and companies with activities, initiatives, or products relevant to our milieu. If you’d like to become a patron of HOLO, please get in touch with us at
